Formerly an old coaching inn built in 1785 and known then as 'The Pend' (an old Scots word
Meaning ‘close’ or ‘alleyway’), the Star Hotel at Twynholm has been renowned for over two centuries for its
hospitality, accommodation and good quality meals.
Twynholm is the birthplace of David Coulthard who has become the highest British Points scorer of all
time! The Coulthard museum, located next to the hotel, has an impressive collection of cars, trophies and
racing paraphenalia.
Over the years many famous people have visited the Star Hotel, including; Wilfred Pickles (radio
broadcaster), Violet Carson (Ena Sharples in Coronation Street), James Robertson Justice (actor), Gary
Linneker (TV presenter and former England football international), Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth in
Coronation Street), Murray Walker (former F1 commentator), and Jackie Stewart (three times F1 world
champion).
In the lounge bar you can enjoy a relaxed meal cooked fresh to order or just relax
and enjoy a chat over a drink. We have an excellent range of alcoholic and
non-alcoholic beverages on offer. (Children’s menus are available)In the village bar,
you can enjoy a pint, or whatever is your tipple and join in discussion with friendly
locals, or just sit back and enjoy the jovial and relaxing atmosphere. Light bites and
bar meals are available in both bars. Dogs are welcome in the public bar. We also
have a smoking shelter and beer garden to the rear of the building.

Welcome to the Star Hotel at Twynholm
The Star Hotel is a small family-run hotel in the village of Twynholm in the heart of
Galloway within the County of Dumfries and Galloway. Set in beautiful and
historic Scotland amidst unspoiled countryside and many historic attractions, you
are not far from the Galloway Hills and Glens and the beautiful Galloway coastline
with it’s many sandy beaches.
